Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in influence within the urban setting.
Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and presented the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to begin their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table features Teor (played by Travis), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might appear unsuited, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose death started the narrative’s action—used the foes for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to sell off.
The antagonist then cleared his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, beyond the city, with Cyd pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, wants retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous place.
- The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
- However, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could assist the group enter places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.
This results in them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in quest for the antagonist.
Future Episodes
From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight cast members to assemble the Seekers and Schemers groups.
